Kilmainham Mill
A feasibility study undertaken, with Sherwood Associates, on behalf of Dublin City Council.
Kilmainham Mill is one of three mills known to have been located in this central part of Dublin; tucked away beside the river, close to Kilmainham Gaol and Courthouse. Until 2000, the site had been in continuous use as a mill at least since the 16th century, all the machinery for these finishing and fulling processes remains in situ and the archive of documentation relating to the various machines survives. Some of the individual machines may be unexceptional, but together the collection represents an assemblage of fulling and finishing machines that is unique.
